Recent benchmarks have emerged, seemingly indicating the presence of an early engineering sample of the Intel Core i7-1185G7, which is part of the 11th generation 10nm Tiger Lake processor lineup. The recently disclosed benchmarks, shared on Twitter by various users recognized for their reliable component leaks, indicate that the Intel Core i7-1185G7 is a quad-core processor built on Intel's 10nm Tiger Lake architecture. At last, the 11th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-1185G7 processor, operating at a base frequency of 3.00 GHz with 4 cores and 8 threads, has been unveiled. This model, part of Intel Corporation's Tiger Lake U series, utilizes DDR4 SODIMM technology. For a visual reference, please see the QS sample shared by @davidbepo on Twitter: pic.twitter.com/2z1RFamyTe, dated April 3, 2020. In contrast to previous leaks regarding Tiger Lake, this marks the initial observation of a potential member from Intel's 11th generation series. As reported by Wccftech, the leaked information indicates that the 11th generation Tiger Lake processors will feature improved core designs based on the Willow Cove architecture, representing a significant redesign compared to the Sunny Cove architecture utilized in the Ice Lake processors.

Specs

The Intel Core i7-1185G7 is poised to succeed the Intel Core i7-1065G7, which was introduced as a laptop CPU in 2019. The benchmarks indicate that the Intel Core i7-1185G7 features four cores and eight threads, operating at a fixed frequency of 3GHz. It is important to emphasize that the information presented is currently unverified, and if accurate, it pertains to an initial engineering sample. Consequently, the final specifications may differ significantly by the time the CPU is officially released. The benchmark results indicate that the Intel Core i7-1185G7 is configured in a test system featuring 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a 128GB SSD. It appears that there is no discrete graphics processing unit present, leading the processor to rely on its integrated Xe GPU. The benchmark employed is the widely recognized 3DMark Time Spy test, which indicates that the processor achieved a score of 1,296 points in the graphics assessment. As noted by Wccftech, this performance is approximately 5% superior to that of the AMD Ryzen 4800U, a laptop processor from Intel's primary competitor. Although the graphical performance favors Intel, the CPU score is relatively low at 2,922. This level of performance is anticipated, given that it is a quad-core processor operating at a fixed frequency of 3GHz. It is our expectation that when the Intel Core i7-1185G7 becomes available in laptops, it will feature frequencies exceeding 3GHz, thereby posing a significant challenge to AMD's revitalized leadership in the laptop CPU sector.
